Body Piercing Jewellery Materials

Titanium
Titanium is the preferred material to be used in initial piercings due to its virtually nickel free content.
It is ideal for people who suffer from metal irritation, even after the piercing has healed.
Titanium jewellery is light weight, highly corrision resistant making it less likey to react with bodily fluids.
Titanium can be anodized creating a layer of coloured oxide on the surface creating colours such as green, yellow, purple, pink, blue and rainbow.
Titanium can be steralized in an autoclave.

Blackline
Blackline is suitable for piercings that are still healing due to it being light weight and durable.
It is often used in surgical equipment aswell as body jewellery. Blackline jewellery is resistant to wear and causes little friction to the body.
Blackline can be steralized in an autoclave.

Zircon Gold
Zircon gold was developed as an alternative to gold jewellery, it can be worn in healing piercings as it is lightweight and won't cause irritation.
Zircon gold can be steralized in an autoclave.

Gold
Gold should never be worn in heling piercings as bodily fluids tend to discolour the metal.
If gold is used for piercing, any gold  with a lower purity than 14 or 18 carot should be avoided because of the higher nickel content.

PTFE
PTFE is a lightweight flexiable plastic. It is biocompatiable, meaning it will not cause allergies.
PTFE is ideal for using as a retainer for your piercing so the hole remains open and doesn't shrink down, making it popular with school children and employees who are not allowed to wear metal jewellery to school or work.
